Creative Inspirations Challenge 3

I have entered this card for the third Creative Inspiration Challenge - the theme this week is numbers so I think this cards fits the bill.
I've used spotty backing paper which came free with a magazine, The figure 8 is made using paper from the Naughty and Nice Christmas paper pack from Papermania and the image is, again, from an image swap, so I don't have any details (maybe someone could let me know?) but it was coloured with watercolour pencils.
Hope you like it.

Pink Elephant Challenge 3

This week the Pink Elephant challenge is a fab sketch by Carol and this is my take on it. I used Basic Gray Sugared patterned paper with an image from the Oriental Ladies set from Woodware and has been coloured with promarkers, with a few touches of Stickles glitter to accent. The sentiment is from Papermania.

Charisma Cardz Challenge

This is my entry for challenge no 7 at the Charisma Cardz blog. This weeks theme was hugs and cuddles. I did struggle a bit with this one - couldn't find a stamp that made me think of hugs - but then I looked through some stamped images I got from a swap a few months ago and found this one. I coloured it with watercolour pencils and mounted it with foam pads onto white card and matted it on blue pearlescent card finished off with a little doodling, the horseshoe patterned backing paper and the blue card are from Southfield Stationers and the ribbon is Anita's. Sorry can't remember the manufacturer of the chipboard alphabet that I used for the wording.

One for the boys (Chrisma Cardz)

I make no apologies for the fact that the vast majority of my cards are designed for the female gender. I imagine that most of you also find it easier to make cards for women. However when I saw this giraffe image which I got in a grab bag of unmounted stamps I thought it might just make quite a slightly more masculine card. The backing papers are Basic Grey from the Sugared collection, the sentiment is computer generated and the button is from my stash (via the local charity shop).

Edited:
Have decided to enter this for the Charisma Cardz challenge no 8 this week since their theme is animals...

A bit of scrapbooking

Managed to find time yesterday to do a bit of scrapping. Even though I go to Scrapbooking Group twice a month I don't always have much time to get a layout done, seem to spend more time teaching a technique or looking at what the others have done. However I saw a sketch on the Trimcraft forum which I thought I'd like to try and here is the result.

My lovely daughter Lynsey was bridesmaid for one of her friends last year and typically wore black! The journaling reads: When Susie asked you to be one of her bridesmaids I pictured you in pink or peach or some other traditional bridesmaid colours - I should have known better don't you think?
I think she looked stunning in black!

I have used Papermania backing paper and the torn paper is from Southfield Stationers (where I will be demonstrating next Saturday 28th Feb), the lace is from my stash and I made the flowers from black card which I stamped with Versamark and brushed with Pearl Pigments from Blonde Moments.

Pink Elephant Challenge 2

'All that glitters' was this weeks challenge over on the Pink Elephant blog and my card is below. The backing paper is a free download from Jessica Sprague and I also used it to punch flowers attached with brads which I covered in glossy accents then added glitter. My rabbit image is called Waldorf, I coloured him with Prismacolours, the easter egg is called Le Egg, both stamps are from GCS Artstamps. I coloured the egg with Sakura Stardust pens but decided they weren't glittery enough so used a gluepen and sprinkled more glitter (now covered in the stuff!!) The sentiment is a Curly Girly one from Pink Petticoat and the ribbon came on a lovely box of Thorntons chocs Neil got me for Valentine's day - all gone now! :o)

Birthday Girl card

I started by stamping a flourish onto the blue backing paper and added faux stitching, then stamped and paper pieced the Cosy Nellie stamp from Sugar Nellie and coloured it with Promarkers, layered it on card and Basic Grey patterned paper, added more faux stitching and dotted grosgrain ribbon. I then die cut and layered cuttlebug flowers, distressed them with an emery board and finished them off with glittered brads. Finally I stamped the sentiment directly on to the patterned paper.

Another day, another challenge

This time it's the Sketch Saturday challenge no 37. The sketch from Janette is this

and my card is this

I have used Laura Ashley patterned paper, lovely textured card from Southfield Stationers (I inked the edges of the card) and a stamped image - Flower Trio by Rhonna Farrer from Autumn Leaves. Not sure what make the pearlised flat backed beads which I've used in the corners and on the flowers are, got them for Christmas, finished it all off with a bit of organza ribbon.

Another challenge

This weeks challenge at Papertake weekly is a sketch by Dawny

And here is my take on it. The image is Pen Pal by Elisabeth Bell at Sugar Nellie, coloured with water colour pencils, and the sentiment is a Debbi Moore one. The pink patterned paper is Party! by American Traditional Designs and the green is a freebie from a magazine. I used Prima flowers to finish off the design.

Challenge no 1 at the Pink Elephant

Made a card yesterday for the first challenge at The Pink Elephant which was to create a card in only Black, White and Pink, so here is my entry. The image is an Autumn Leaves stamp by Rhona Farrer, the backing paper was from Dovecraft (I think). I cut out the flowers and mounted them on foam pads and added the tiny buttons then added ribbon, more buttons and a Prima flower in the same shade of pink. Finished it off with a sentiment from Daisy Bucket.

Frustrating couple of days

The snow has really disrupted my plans over the last couple of days, I was supposed to go to a demonstrators training session on Thursday 40 miles away from here and was all set and ready to go but just after the kids had gone off to school it started to snow. I emailed the organiser and she said there was no snow in Dunblane where we were supposed to meet so still planned to leave in time to get there but by 10.15 it was much heavier and didn't look like letting up so I felt forced to cancel. Actually I was more concerned about getting back safely and in fact it kept snowing until after 2pm.

Was really disappointed, I'd really been looking forward to going! Anyway I did get a few extra cards done for today's craft fair and managed to organise all my bits and pieces ready to display all my goodies which was helpful since I was working all day yesterday. But late in the day Neil phoned to say that there had been a phone message saying that, because of the snow, the fair was cancelled - doh!! What am I going to do with all these Valentine's cards now?!

It was snowing again when I got up today so planned to make a few cards, since I had the day off after all, but alas no inspiration so just messed around with my alcohol inks and did a few backgrounds for ATCs and stuck a few bits to others I'd already started so not a complete waste of time.

These two cards I made the other day with a new stamp set I got from Woodware, it's called Oriental Ladies - aren't they cute little ladies?

Rachael's 18th

My gorgeous niece Rachael is 18 years old today - Happy Birthday Rachael xxx This is the card I made for her. The paper is Cherry Arte Angel-Sophia, I think the brad is Dovecraft, the ribbon, flowers and jewels are from my stash. The sentiment is from Pink Petticoat.

Clare's Sketch Challenge

Have entered this card for Clare's Sketch Challenge over on her Docrafts blog.

Here is the sketch

and this is my card

The image is from Lavinia Stamps and the sentiment from Hero Arts (the sentiment is meant to be on a curve but I'm afraid it just looks squint). I added Stickles to the stamped image and made the embellishments from sequins and punched paper. What do you think?
